October 17, 2002 I was flogged indoors in Ben Lomond, California, by
Leatherback (Al).

For my back flogging, my wrists were tied to a whipping post.

50 heavy strokes were administered with an 8-tail flogger, made of probably 
latigo or common cowhide.  This whip is meaner than a typical multi-tailed 
flogger, as the force is focused on the 8 tails, which are also longer than 
those of a typical flogger.  Until the first stroke hit, I'd forgotten how
hard Al lays them on.  I'd asked for this and I was getting it.

50 heavy strokes with a braided leather cat followed.  This cat was somewhat
more painful than the 8-tailed flogger, but not nearly as mean as a prison
(unknotted) cat made with whipcord.  But after 50 with it plus 50 with the 
previous whip, I was in intense pain.  The last 3 strokes were delivered
very fast (rapidfire).  By now my shoulders were shuddering from the 
experience.  It was as if I was shivering from the cold, but this was from 
the shock of being lashed so long and so hard.

10 heavy strokes with a tawse (3 long thin tails, leather) followed.  This 
was extremely painful.  After the first lash I was ready to quit.  On a 
pain scale, I'd say this ranks much higher than the leather cat, maybe
higher than prison and naval cats I've taken.

I was pretty much wasted at this point and badly needed a break.  After 
something like 20 minutes, I was turned around for a chest whipping.  Since 
the whipping post could not be used, my wrists were tied with ropes to bolts 
in the overhead joist. 

On my chest:

Approx. 20 strokes were laid on with a rawhide switch.  While this may
easily have been the most severe whip used on my chest, I also found it
quite pleasing.  I guess you could say it hurt in a nice way.  It makes
some nice welts.  It gives a sharp, focused pain.

That was followed by approx. 20 strokes with a home-made "dressage" whip.  
This is a smaller cousin to the plastic "scourge" used on my back.  It
has rough edges that scratch and cut and it sure stings.  Some strokes were
on my abdomen and under my arms.

Approx. 20 strokes with a 3' single-tail (snake whip) followed.  Even
when swung lightly, it can produce quite noticeable welts.  Not as severe
as the switch or a flogger, even when laid on hard, but it can sting and
in some cases cut enough to bleed.  It's great for artwork!  Some faint
reminders of the snake whip were visible to me on my chest 2 months later.

Then again, I was turned around and secured to the whipping post for 6 
light strokes with a home-made plastic "scourge."  Had I not been still
shuddering, I would have taken them full force.  The light strokes were 
not bad.  Fortunately, a few months later I would get to feel it laid on 
nice and hard.

The flogger, cat, and tawse mostly made my back very red, and somewhat 
bloody.  The scourge made it a little bloodier.  Not much in the way
of distinct marks on my back.  My chest was severely marked up and I 
had to hide it from my girlfriend for at least 10 days!  Some subtle
marks from the single-tail (that were not obvious to others) were visible 
for weeks.

My back (and to a somewhat lesser degree my chest) was quite painful 
for several days, and putting on a shirt or turning in bed were most
painful.  But that sure won't stop me from doing it again, and harder!

I shaved my chest for this event, but left my back as is.  I'm quite 
hairy, except on my head unfortunately.  This session was just painful
enough to leave me wanting more in future visits.
